Grounds & Garden Day at Manice

It was a warm Friday afternoon at the Manice Education Center. No schools or sessions were happening, but the grounds were alive with activity. On June 13, Christodora and the Manice Education Center welcomed the public for our first-ever Grounds & Garden Day at Manice. This event was inspired by our Whole Kids Foundation grant to transform our vegetable garden with a much-needed “glow up.” While planning for the garden revamp, staff realized there were a few other projects they could use a few extra hands with — including an overhaul of our wildflower garden and some “Marie Kondo-ing” of our stone shed at the top of the hill.

A group of over twenty staff, alumni, and friends old and new gathered at Manice — ready to roll up their sleeves. Working in two sessions across four afternoon hours, they weeded and mulched the new garden, completely cleared out the wildflower meadow, and spruced up the shed by removing unneeded bins and boxes. By the end of the day, everyone was tired but proud. Check out the photos below to relive the action of this very exciting and productive day! As the saying goes, many hands make light work!
